The accessory market has exploded, giving us so many options to choose from. This week, I’m going to give you tips on how to make finding that perfect accessory less overwhelming.
1. Know your accessory style:
In the previous article, "How to accessorise", I gave you tips on how to discover your accessory style. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to accessorising, it’s about embracing your natural style and working with it. If you are a ‘Less is more’ girl, the stores you’ll need to go to will be very different to the suitable stores for a ‘variety is the spice of life’ girl.
2. Have some idea of what you are looking for:
It can be very overwhelming to walk into an accessory store if you have no idea what you are looking for. You don’t have to have the exact item in mind, but some idea of the colour, chunky or dainty, simple or detailed will make it easier.
3. Look first:
Go to a few stores and see what is available first before buying anything. Narrow done your options in each store. If you are nervous your favourite item may get sold while you are browsing, ask the store to keep it for you for an hour or two.
4. Making your purchase:
Always ask yourself, how many items of clothing can I wear this with? If it’s only going to go with one dress, for one occasion, give some careful consideration to whether the price is worth it. The more wearable the accessory is, the more it’s worth the spend.
