The bandage dress. A working of skin tight material that hugs your curves in all the right places. They are sleek, they are sexy and they have become a staple in almost every woman’s closet.
Unfortunately, this is a problem for Patrick Couderc, the UK Director of designing house Herve Leger.
According to the Daily Mail, Patrick said that ‘voluptuous’ women with ‘very prominent hips’ should not be wearing bandage dresses.
‘Committed Lesbians’ (whatever that may be) should also stay clear as they apparently prefer to be ‘butch and leisurely’ rather than tight fitting clothes.
But wait, that’ not all.
Flat-chested woman and older woman are also discouraged from wearing bandages dresses – basically if you are not thin, young and busty you should get your large-hipped, small-chested, old body out of his dresses.
The mind boggles at the fact this man could be so clueless, offensive and dead, dead wrong.
If anything, the bandage dress is an amazingly flattering garment as it moulds itself around you.
So why does Patrick think he can dictate who should and should not wear these dresses?
Well, according to Madame Noir, Herve Leger originated the bandage dress back in the 1980’s, and rather that celebrate how iconic the dress is, Patrick decided to tear women to shreds.
Has no one ever told Patrick that women should wear what ever the hell they want, regardless of body type, age, or sexual preference?
If it looks good and feels good, it is good – that is all that truly matters.
So wear your bandage dress and wear it proudly – if only to piss off Patrick.
