Tantric Sex – The Path to Sexual Bliss

Tantric Sex: The Path to Sexual Bliss by Kavida Rei(Dorling Kindersley Publishers Ltd)
We all know that Sting practices impressive bouts of tantric sex with his wife Trudie Styler. It was on an Oprah Show a few years back when they brazenly credited their lustrous sex life to the ancient art.

"It's not five or seven hours of sex," Trudie boasted, "it's five or seven hours of lovemaking. So he'll run a bath for me and the bathroom will be set with candles and essential oils.

"Then he'll give me a massage, and we'll look each other in the eyes for a long time…"

Peachy, right? So imagine my glee when Book Club Editor Adele Hamilton commissioned Tantric Sex: the Path to Sexual Bliss for my perusal. It wasn't long before I too sang tantric praise.

So what exactly is tantra? Author Kavida Rei describes it "as a way of life which promotes the idea that sexuality, spirituality, and the emotions are all interconnected."

Her guide schools us on the value of meditation and how it will make lovemaking more intimate, meaningful, and pleasurable.

In her chapters, she touches on the importance of treating your body as a temple; the nature and role of the seven chakras; embracing your emotions; creating a tantric space; massage, and more.

I like the emphasis that Rei puts on love, trust and respect. And because I'm the touchy-feely-candlelit-let's-go-away-together sort, her Tantric Retreat is high on my to-do list.
