Beauty Review: Woolworths' new make-up range

Woolworths recently sent me some of the products in their latest make-up range, and since I’m such a Woolies addict, I could hardly contain my excitement. In fact, I had to stop myself from putting on all the make-up right there at my desk.

In the pack? Lipglosses, eye-shadow, mascara, liquid eyeliners, cheek and lip tint and funky nail art.

Carmen, my colleague, had her graduation that night and needed a stunning eyeshadow to go with her outfit. I couldn’t keep all the fab goodies to myself so she got to try out the eye trio “Smoke and Mirrors” (R49.95). The other trios have cute names like “Kohl me maybe” (get it?) and “Silk Road”.

“This eyeshadow is amazing. There are 3 colours in the pack – so you can layer them up or just wear one or two. It stayed on all night, even though I had to run through the rain, and didn’t smudge, or fade.

“I also often struggle to find great products for my skin at an affordable price as many eye shadows, liners an mascaras make my eyes itch and sometimes burn. This eye shadow is so affordable, I mean R50? That’s so cheap. Especially for a great product. The only thing you have to be careful of is applying too much. I used a little more of the black on my make up brush than I should have and ended up having to wash my face or I would have looked like one of the members of KISS,” says Carmen.

I’ve since been using the black liquid eyeliner (R39.95), and I love it. It’s so easy to apply and when put some eyeshadow over it, creates a really dramatic look.

The mascara, which is really well priced at only R49.95, does the job quite well. Don’t apply it too thick, however, as it may become a bit lumpy and dry.

I use the high shine lipgloss (R29.95) everyday, either on it’s own or over a  lipstick. It stays shiny for ages and doesn’t get too sticky. Love it! The high pigment red one that they sent is perfect for a night out on town, and whenever I feel confident enough, I slap some of that on my lips.

I’m not a major fan of blush in general, but their Pink Coral tint (R49.95) can also be used on lips, which makes it such a good buy.

Overall this is such a fun and funky range, that’s really well priced too. Which, in my eyes, makes it a winner!
