Everything you need to know about hair dusting

accreditation

As much as we all want our hair to grow, it can be a struggle. In order to keep it looking healthy we continually have to chop it off, so we end up losing the length we worked so hard to achieve. Well, that was before we knew about hair dusting.

It’s the latest beauty trend which allows you to keep your hair long and healthy. It was recently introduced by LA hair stylist, Sal Salcedo and now people across the globe are turning to the craze as an alternative to actually getting a haircut.

Talking to Refinery29, Sal said that hair dusting is a technique in which you don't get rid of any hair length, but only the damaged hair tips.  He says that this can be done  by snipping the very bottom of each hair strand.

“Think of it in terms of removing fuzz from clothes. You want to smooth the hair out the best you can first, because you need to allow the bad hair to pop up. That's what you will be getting rid of," says Sal.

So how do you dust your hair?

1. Divide your hair into portions so that you can do it one section at a time.

2. Twist each row between your index and middle fingers so that the damaged ends to pop up and expose the hair you need to dust.

3. When you see a split end or a knot, trim an inch from the end of the strand, just enough to remove the damaged ends.

4. Continue to do this to the rest of your hair.
