Hair fashion: Our fave runway manes

accreditation

Besides the fashion forecast that runway shows offer us, these shows can also give an idea of what beauty’s going to look like in the season to come. According to the hundreds of looks we’ve seen, the forecast is windswept with a chance of texture - lots of texture. Here’s four of this year’s runway looks to take to the streets:

SCRUNCHIES
The ultimate throwback accessory is back … scrunchies! Scrunchies make for very fancy ponytails. This 90s trend is on the up and we’re totally on board. Pinterest as part of its Style Awards recently revealed that the top hair-related search on the image-sharing website is the humble 80s and 90s fashion stalwart - the scrunchie. The scrunchie can be styled in a number of ways: a messy high ponytail, half-up, half-down, side ponytail, buns, top-knot style, two buns, undone bun…

HIPPY HAIR
This might be an every other day hairstyle to most, but in a world dominated by sleek silky hair, textured messy hair is becoming a need-to style. Wavy locks can easily be created by using a curling tong. For the silky hippy hair fans, the 90s trend resurfacing is the holiday hair wrap. According to Halle Berry this is the perfect addition to pin straight locks. Another retro hair tool making a return is the crimper. Ghd is launching a modern day styler for crimping called the Contour. PS. the crimper needn’t be used all over your head, try just in sections for added body and dual textured effect.

THE CURLY PIXIE CUT
It’s as light as air on your head ... it’s also one of the most low maintenance looks allowing you to stay in style while not spending too much time trying to recreate the look you left the salon with. Pixie cuts are never not trendy, yet it has a classic air that exudes elegance. For curly-haired women, this cut has long seemed unattainable, but this time around there are some stylish curly pixie cuts you can go for. A favourite is the boyish pixie, which is great for those with thick, curly hair. The weight of the thickness helps achieve a multi-dimensional style that looks healthy and full of texture.

BOBBY PIN ART
Not only are they great to help you pull your hair back and hold it in place, you can also create cool hairstyles. This pin art gives immediate hair envy and a compulsion to go home, root through my hair junk drawer and handbags, and test it out. It’s eye-catching without being intimidating. Try some quick and fun patterns, especially for when you don’t want to put in a lot of effort into looking fabulous. You can try to create arrows, stars, stack them ontop of each other, criss cross etc.
