Look - before I start, I just want to say curly hair is awesome. If you have a natural wave, curl, spiral or frizz going you know by now how much straight-haired girls envy you.
So much so that for a long time the dubious question: to perm or not to perm was a thing. It was the '80s and hair volume in excess was sported by the likes of Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand and Meg Ryan. And now, since nothing is really ever new in fashion, the perm is about to make a comeback.

I read mentions of this cascading hair volcano returning last year, but I didn't want to believe it.

Bella Hadid is doing the perm. Yes. You know what they say: "it ain't a trend until a supermodel is seen sharing the look on Instagram".
Okay, maybe that's my saying. But 'It' girl Bella Hadid recently shared an Instagram post showing off a fresh perm. We're assuming her hair was done for a music video or shoot of some sort, and... it looked gooooood.
According to Today.com perms are going back on the menu at hair salons. Women (and men) are choosing perms to achieve curly tresses reminiscent of beach babe waves.
HarpersBazaar.com notes that last year Games of Thrones' Kit Harrington was responsible for upping the popularity of men’s perms. Eeee.

But, when I think perm, I think chemicals. And the result? Over-processed straw hair that might go up in flames if ever it found itself at a romantic candlelit dinner. The horror.
But Today.com notes that perms have become a lot safer with advancements in technology. Less (or no) ammonia is being used these days which was the main culprit behind the damaged and dry hair.
I live in hope that modern perms won't go further than Mica Argañaraz's curly rock 'n roll mop...
