Instead of hiding under a wig, this 17-year-old girl rocked her bald head and embraced her condition for her senior high school pictures.

Madisyn Babcock, from Kansas in the US, is living with alopecia, a hair-loss condition that occurs when your immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles.

So when the American teenager heard her senior photos were coming up, she decided to use the platform to bring awareness to the condition.

Talented photographer Chelsea Taylor posted the incredible pictures of Madisyn’s bald head which had been covered with colourful paintings of flowers on Facebook. The pictures have since gone viral.

According to Yahoo, the teen was nervous to get in front of the camera without her wig or scarves covering her head.

“I usually wear head covers due to the bald spots, so going entirely bald and exposing my head was new for me,” Madisyn says.

In order to boost her confidence and promote body positivity, Madisyn asked her mom, who’s an artist, to draw flowers on her head – and the end result was amazing!

“I decided to paint my head to raise awareness and to promote natural beauty. My mom, an artist, was the perfect candidate for my head masterpiece,” she says.

Chelsea, who regularly takes stunning pictures of the teen, recalls seeing an instant change in the teenager while snapping this set of pictures.

“We had worked together previously this spring, and I have been there through the process of her losing her hair,” Chelsea says.

“Madisyn has never once let any of this affect the way she sees herself – if anything, I think she’s stronger, braver, and more confident than the day I met her.”

The youngster describes herself as an “earth child”, which is why she had the pictures taken in a natural setting.

“I chose flowers because they fit me as a person. I feel I’ve really blossomed into the person I’m supposed to be,” she says.

Chelsea says she’s incredibly proud that the teenager decided to embrace her condition and raise awareness by turning her head into a masterpiece.

“I was so glad when she decided to show off her head for her senior session and even more excited when she shared her idea to turn it into a work of art!” Taylor says.

“Madisyn’s mom spent hours drawing out the design and painting it on the morning of her shoot. It turned out beautifully, and her images are a direct reflection of her spirit,” Chelsea says.
