Even Rihanna counts herself a fan and has been following Rafinha Silva’s Instagram account, The Royal Dolls, where he posts images of his impressive custom-made Barbie creations.

Rafinha, who’s from Brazil, handcrafts miniature wigs for Barbie dolls.

The hairstyles range from luscious blond locks to fiery, curly creations – and his 324 000 Instagram followers love each and every one of his striking styles.

“I’ve always had a lot of affinity with art and drawing women with long hair is one of my earliest childhood memories,” he says, adding that his clients mostly request curly hair.

Rafinha recreates Barbie dolls to his client’s liking. After establishing what exactly the client is looking for, the artist orders parts. He then removes the doll’s existing face paint and hair to create the custom doll – and completes the look with an outfit.

Rafinha says he started recreating dolls back in 2013 and he’s designed over 500 dolls.

“My first inspiration was to create a doll with the characteristics of the singer Amy Winehouse,” he explains.

“I loved the experience of being able to customize and I wanted to be able to continue producing more and more pieces.”

And he’s showing no signs of slowing down. His doll creations include Britney Spears, Cher and even Princess Jasmine lookalikes.

“I hope to continue working with what I love the most.

“Because without a doubt I’m a very grateful man to be able to work with art.”
