Very often dark-skinned women are told all the things they shouldn’t do with makeup. We are told not to wear bright colours and that we should think really hard before wearing a red lipstick. Light-skinned women on the other hand are forever encouraged to "find their perfect red".
Nonsense, I say. Here are 5 dark-skinned makeup musts:
1. Find your nude
There are different shades of nude makeup products that are made for different dark skin types, so it’s all about finding the perfect shade for your complexion. Elle suggests that a nude lipstick one shade lighter or darker than your skin tone are most flattering.
We love: Essence Long-lasting lippie, R39.
2. Use more than one shade of foundation
Most dark-skinned people are naturally two-toned. We tend to be lighter in the center of our faces.
So it's advisable to use two shades of foundation even if you don’t have dark spots or uneven skin tone. Try mixing Revlon Colourstay foundations, I really like blending Cappuccino and Caramel.

3. Opt for darker blushes
Choosing the perfect blush can be quite a hassle for dark-skinned girls, but listen and listen carefully: just because you’re dark-skinned doesn’t mean you can't rock darker blush.

Try Clinique soft pressed powder blush, R335.
4. Don’t forget your powder

Use Yardley loose powder, R149.
