Who doesn't prefer longer, thicker lashes? And while mascaras today are doing amazing work, lash health is also important.
So we're looking at ways to make your eyelashes grow, flourish and shine... or at least appear to do.
1. Olive Oil
Olive oil is known as a natural remedy for thicker hair growth. It is rich in vitamin E and oleic acid, which won't only volumise your eyelashes but will also nourish it.
How to use it on your lashes:
1. Dip a clean, old mascara stick or a cotton swab in warm olive oil.
2. Apply the oil carefully on your lashes, just as you would apply mascara before going to bed.
3. Leave it on overnight, then wash it off with lukewarm water in the morning.
Remember, it will take a few months until you get the desired results.

2. Aloe vera
Aloe vera is used as a home remedy for several things - it can be used to remove makeup, it soothes blisters and sunburn, and it also purportedly strengthens and grows eyelashes.
How to use it on your lashes:
1. Break open an aloe vera leaf, get the gel inside the leaf and neatly apply it your lashes with a clean mascara wand.
2. Leave it on overnight and rinse it off in the morning.
If you don’t have a fresh aloe vera leaf close at hand, try an aloe vera gel instead. You can get this one at Clicks for R48.
3. Egg white and castor oil
Yuck, I know. At least you won’t be drinking it.
Egg whites are packed with protein and some people wash their hair with it to strengthen it.
How to use it on your lashes:
1. Mix two drops of each and brush the combination on your eyelids right before bed.
2. Leave it overnight and rinse it off in the morning.
4. Extensions
If you're not into these natural home remedies, then go for the big guns. Similar to hair extensions, eyelash extensions are individual lashes attached to your existing lashes semi-permanently.
This can be costly, and doesn't last very long, but it will definitely make your lashes stand out.
