6 cheap beauty alternatives to expensive products

accreditation

We all love expensive, aspirational beauty brands like Bobbi Brown, YSL, Chanel and Dior. But buying them regularly can sometimes be tricky (especially when you have a secret online shopping addiction).

Here's a list of budget-friendly products hailed for their cheap-but-effective nature:

The classic Urban Decay 3 eyeshadow palette, R850, has been a firm favourite of mine ever since I laid eyes on it about 2 years ago. It is multi-faceted and dreamy.

But if you're looking for a similar but less expensive nude palette, try The blushed Nudes by Maybelline, R249,95.

When it comes to removing makeup fast and effectively, we trust in the classic Bioderma Sensibio H20 Cleanser, R210.

But when times are lean we go for Garnier's Micellar Water for Sensitive Skin, R 79,95 from Clicks. To me it works 85% as well as the Bioderma version.

It's hard to beat a Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge Matte Lipstick in Rouge Vintage, R399, but the Revlon Superluscious Love is On lippie, R149, can be just as nice.

Benefit Gimme Brow, R335, is a joy to use and we luuuurve it, but at times when we've spent way too much on going out our brow game chooses essence Little Eyebrow Monsters, eyebrow mascara, R53.95.

Need a correcting lift around the eye area? The absolutely divine miracle wand that is the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Highlighter, R 600, available at the Sandton City YSL store, is always the answer. Yet the Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Correcting and Highlighting Perfector, R345, available at Red Square stores, is just as good an option if you're looking for something a little more budget friendly.

Need to get those cheeks strobed out but have to do it on the cheap? I live and die by the magical dewy powers possessed by the Smashbox L.A. Lights Blendable Lip & Cheek Color, R 365. Yet I'm grateful for the new Illuminating stick by Maybelline, R 169,95, which helps me out when my glowy AF budget is looking dire.

Here's how to use it:
