But everyone seems to be crushing on everything from matte skin to lips and nails - what's next, matte hair?!

So, basically, only boring people think it's boring.

Here's how to eliminate the gloss from your regular nail polish, on the cheap:

Get the Essie Nail Top Coat Matte About You, R149. Apply over your nail polish as you would a normal top coat - and voila!

Cheaper

Try the Catrice Matt & More Top Coat, R59.95, which can be applied to any normal glossy polish and will result in a matte finish.

Cheapest

Do it yourself! All you need is a small amount of cornstarch and a toothpick.

Wikihow.com suggests mixing a small amount of cornstarch into a clear top coat using a toothpick. You can also mix this with a regular polish instead of going the top coat route.

NOTE: Act quickly as the product might dry out fast.
