You bought the most expensive bottle of perfume in the store and couldn’t wait to start attracting those around you to your new, sexy smell.
But on day one the fragrance hardly lasted 12 hours before you needed a fresh spritz.
That costly perfume might not be the problem. Rather, it could be that you’ve been spraying the Eau de Parfum on all the wrong areas.
Here are eight spots to spray for a lingering fragrance.
YOUR HAIR
"Fragrances latch onto hair fibres, therefore hair will carry the scent of the fragrance for a long period of time," Steven Claisse, a senior perfumer tells SELF.
But apply it carefully as the alcohol in perfume dries out the hair.
"To avoid any drying of the hair, the best way to apply fragrance to hair is to mist on a brush,” Steven advises.
ON TOP OF YOUR EARS
Sure, you’ve heard that behind the ear is the best spot to spray, but the top of the earlobe is in fact a better option.
According to SELF, oily skin holds a scent better than dry skin. Be sure to moisturise your ears before applying the perfume.
BETWEEN YOUR CLEAVAGE
Live About writes that the ‘pulse points’ are the best areas to apply perfume, because these points emanate heat, which helps a fragrance emanate from your skin into the air.
The cleavage is one of these spots.
ON THE INSIDE OF YOUR ELBOWS
The wrists are a common place to apply perfume, but the inside of the elbow is an even better option.
It’s one of the pulse points and the heat generated in that area will emit the lovely smell throughout the day.
BELLYBUTTON
It may seem odd, but the inside of the bellybutton is a good place to spritz, Steven Claisse tells SELF.
"Any area on your body that radiates heat will enhance a scent and your bellybutton does just that.”
DOWN YOUR CALVES
As you walk, the friction between your legs will create warmth and boost the scent. So lightly spray down your calves.
ON YOUR ANKLES
