A Serving Of Scandal

A Serving Of Scandal by Prue Leith (Quercus Books)
Well-known chef turned author Prue Leith is carving out a niche for herself in the area of middle-aged chick lit. In this easy-reading romance, professional caterer and single mom Kate McKinnon finds herself cooking for the Secretary of State, a married charmer with kids.

Needless to say, the two become attracted to each other and bond over endless late night glasses of wine in the kitchen.

It’s all very tempting, but both resist, aware of the potential effect on their families.

But there are prying eyes everywhere – and people who don’t care who they hurt to score a political point. Soon the tabloids are camped out on Kate’s doorstep, and her business, her family and her life are in jeopardy.

It’s a fun read, a little predictable at times, but as with Prue’s previous novel Choral Society, it’s just the thing when you’re not feeling like anything literary, but can’t stomach the sex-and-shopping genre.
