Pomegranate Soup by Marsha Mehran
It has been seven years since Marjan Aminpour fled Iran with her younger sisters, Bahar and Layla. They hope that the small town of Ballinacroagh might finally be the home they've been searching for.

The three sisters set up shop from the kitchen of an old pastry shop on Main Mall, and manage to create a comforting Persian eatery. Soon the exotic smells of cardamom, cinnamon, and saffron float around the streets. Lovely... but not everybody's pleased. In fact, the Babylon Cafe becomes one of the most hated places in town, hated by those scared of the unknown and those craving power.

But the mysterious, spicy fragrances work their magic on the townsfolk, and soon, business is booming. Marjan is thrilled that the town people love her food, and with the transformation in her sisters. Young Layla finds first love, and even tense, haunted Bahar seems to be less nervous.

But not all is well. The sisters find that secrets and lies catch up with them, and they must lay all the past demons to rest if they are ever going to move on with their lives. As if that's not enough, they have to deal with prejudice and sinister plots by fellow townspeople.

But it seems that there's always a cure for everything, and the delicious and tempting food and tea served in the Babylon Cafe can soothe any hurt.

Filled with 12 comforting recipes, mouth-watering fragrances and mysterious spices, Pomegranate Soup is a heart-warming tale of romance, friendship and exotic food. It's pure magic.
