Undead and Unwed

Undead and Unwed by MaryJanice Davidson (Piatkus books)
Few things in life are worse than waking up after an accident and discovering that you're dead. Or rather, the living dead.

So when Betsy Taylor suddenly finds herself waking up as a vampire in the morgue after being killed in an accident, she naturally freaks.

Luckily being the eternal optimist that she is (seriously, this chick just doesn't know how to channel that dark, seductive and brooding angst that fits most vamps like a second skin), Betsy quickly adjusts to the living life in the dead of night.

And then Eric Sinclair decides to rain on her vampire parade.

Who's Eric you might ask?

Eric is the infuriatingly attractive leech (actually, make that king of leeches) who wants to enlist her help in overthrowing the evil (actually, he's more obnoxious and stupid than evil) power-hungry (ok, that much is true) vampire, Nosferatu.

Of course fashion-conscious, shoe-loving Betsy is having none of that, but Eric has a couple of tricks up his undead sleeve - not least of which includes unlimited access to Manolo Blahnik's Spring shoe collection.

And really, what person, dead or alive, can resist that?

The first in a series of Betsy Taylor books, Undead and Unwed is a light-hearted, fluffy take on the vampire genre.

It's not the best in terms of vampire fiction, but hey, if you're afraid to head outdoors during the month of Halloween, then why not let Betsy and her clumsy vampire ways keep you giggling through the mayhem and madness of the month that is October.
