Is having kids at weddings inappropriate?

accreditation
While many feel that the parents who cannot control their kids should rather get a sitter, there is much to be said by those who feel that kids should share in the celebration because ‘it would just not be the same without them’.

Here are some of the opinions posted by our readers. Read them and make a comment of your own in the box below.

Those in favour:

Jumpdates: Not sure why women say no... It's not a big deal

Karena: I did and hate going to weddings where I cant take my kids. Weddings are a celebration of love and kids are the ultimate form of love.

Colleen: I got married in March, we had 10 kids all under six, it was awesome! I organised party boxes, games ect... They really made my day. Priceless photos of three-year olds dancing. Have things for them to do otherwise they will get bored and mischievous.

Shirley: Just got married six weeks ago and loved having the kiddies there, it wouldn't have been the same without them.
Prudence: I would be glad to have my daughter at my wedding; this is too much of a special day in my life for me not to share with her.

Rochelle:
I totally agree with you! (sic) some of my best childhood memories is of family weddings which I attended as a kid, kids should also b part of the celebration!

Those opposed:

S'thandwa: No! They will be busy running around and parents won't have fun. Get a nanny, leave your kids at home and enjoy the wedding.

Linette: Hell no!! The last thing you need is miniatures running around and misbehaving when they get tired...They can't possibly understand how important that day is to the bride and groom! Hell to the no! Get a sitter.

Hadjirah: Parents couldn’t control their kids at the reception, so NO if I could do it all over again.

Suzette: No! Who wants to run around after naughty children or listen to babies crying during a wedding? I am not being rude, I am being honest.

Hlengiwe: Absolutely not! Get a sitter for them because you know well in advance that you will be attending a wedding, some invitations do specify that no kids.

Osayuki: Nay...if I could have my way.

What do you think, kids: Yay or Nay?
