Bridal runway looks you'll fall in love with

accreditation

Bridal fashion shows are my favourite. I love seeing how designers reinvent the wheel to come up with creative and new ways to update the classic bridal look.

And while most of us will not be able to afford a Marchesa gown or a Vera Wang, we can take our cue and inspiration from the runway and adjust the style according to individual taste.

Here are a few of our favourite styles we’ve recently spotted:

Illusion necklines

According to hitched.co.uk, the reason why illusion necklines are so ideal is because they tend to work well with every kind of bridal gown.  We love them because they complement all textures and add a striking contrast that makes the dress a sure stand-out.

Best of all, if you’re someone who prefers keeping it simple, with just a touch of that something extra, wedding dresses with illusion necklines are the way to go.

Wedding capes

I don’t know about you, but when it comes to weddings I’m all about that Once Upon a Time vibe, and nothing says that more than donning a cape or capelet. And luckily for us, bridal designers have more than delivered.

The best thing about capes is that they’re very versatile, so you can experiment with a look and style that suits you.

Whether you choose to wear it draping from your shoulders (see top image), in the form of a capelet (see the Marchesa gown above) or from the neck down (see below), there’s a cape that suits almost every bridal style.

The bridal pant suit

For the bride who wants to up her game by diverging from the traditional gown, pants and jumpsuits are still riding the wave on runways.

You can either keep it simple and don bold headgear and accessories to complete your look (see above), or you can mix it up and add some versatility to your look by playing with different textures and material (like this lacy number below).

Vintage glam / 1920s inspired

The Great Gatsby era is one that clearly won’t die and I am not complaining at all. Vintage flapper-girl wedding gowns are still the rage and we particularly love this full-length, 20s-inspired gown with its illusion neckline and fringe detail.

Cocktail wedding dresses

Short, sweet and sassy, cocktail dresses are perfect for the bride who wants something super stylish without the hassle of spending her big day traipsing around in a full-length ball gown.

Add a touch of colour to the bodice, or keep it simple but have the detail in the skirt (ruffled is the way to go).

Play with colour

Because who says wedding gowns have to be white? Case in point: this gorgeous asymmetrical pale rose gown with a bright red bow and gorgeous and embroidered flower detail.

High necklines

Wedding gowns with high necklines might seem boring and a bit old-fashion, but they’re making quite a bit of a comeback on the runway and are perfect if you’re having a winter wedding.

Best of all there’s no singular type of high neckline – you can choose anything from scooped to high collars like the one below.
