There were many votes, and loads of favourites, but ultimately, there could only be one winner. After receiving more than 700 votes, and with an overwhelming majority of 360, Kim and Mike, who got married in December 2015, have come out on tops.
About Kim and Mike
The couple, who opted for a beautiful and nature-inspired wedding, decided on a rustic setting and chose Rockhaven Farm in Elgin as their wedding venue.
Kim, on describing her romantic day, says: “A memorable moment for me in particular was finding a series of notes Mike had left for me to read on the morning of our wedding – and of course the look on his face when I walked down the aisle to meet him.“
How they met:
“Mike and I met almost nine years ago on a random night out in Cape Town. He was a real gentleman and insisted on taking me on a proper date so we could get to know each other. Needless to say, a week later, we really kicked things off over steak and wine, and the rest is history!”
How he proposed:
“Our love for travel has taken us all over the world together. Mike sneakily used our seven year anniversary as the perfect excuse to whisk me away to Barcelona, a city that had been at the top of our bucket lists for a while.
We even planned the trip together, so I didn’t suspect a thing. One evening we enjoyed a beautiful Spanish dinner under the stars, before he asked me to take a walk along the beach with him. He kept saying we should look for a quiet spot to sit and relax – that was when it dawned on me that he might be up to something!
He got down on one knee, pulled out the most beautiful ring (which hilariously, had been in the camera bag I was carrying around all night!) and told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. We had a bottle of champagne waiting for us when we got back to our hotel.”
