The face, the hair

1. The classic oval face
The perfectly balanced face shape, where the forehead is neither too wide nor too short and the jaw line and cheekbones are not too broad or too narrow. All hairstyles suit this shape (lucky you).

2. The square face
Recognised by a broad jaw line, a wide forehead and wide cheekbones. Your best bet is to avoid anything too short or geometric. Opt for soft, feathery curves around the jaw and cheeks.

3. The heart-shaped face
Because the chin is usually pointed, concentrate on creating volume and breadth around that area.

4. The moon-shaped face
The hair should be feathered onto the cheeks, but without being flattened. Avoid sleek or flat hairstyles.

5. The long, angular face
Shorten the appearance of the face with a fringe and a chin-length cut, with volume and outward flicks at chin level. Avoid a long, straight bob.
