5 Tips for Social Media Sharing

1) Resize media
If you reduce the size of your photos and convert your videos to .flv files with a video converter, uploading content to Facebook will take a lot less time.

Experiment with file sizes to see how it impacts on the quality of the image or video.

2) Segment your friend list
The larger your base of friends, the more diverse their interests and therefore the less likely some of them will be interested in passions you may have. By organising your friends into different classifications, you can share information with specific groups.

It's important to understand that if people continually see content from you that does not interest them, for example if you always post about your passion for rugby or your kitten's latest antics, they'll eventually un-friend you or hide your posts.

3) Create conversation

Content from sites like YouTube or Pinterest is popular. Posting this kind of content and then interacting in the comments builds your social relationships thus increasing your influence, which makes people more likely to interact with you in future.

4) Minimise attention-seeking posts or over-sharing
If you're always posting ambiguous, attention-seeking posts e.g. "feeling down today" or "Oh no, not again...." people will ask what's wrong the first few times, but then distance themselves from your posts.

5) Check your privacy settings
These are updated often by Facebook. For example, a lot of people's photos are public. And you may not want everyone looking at pictures of your family. Help your kids especially to get this right.
