Be a Tech Expert

Most women today consider themselves to be “technologically-savvy,” and rightly so! Today more than ever, it’s perfectly normal to see households that have multiple televisions, laptops and smartphones

But with such a large preoccupation with technology at home, it’s sometimes easy to forget that your workplace has the potential to be just as technological as your personal life.

While your business may—and should—rely on the mantra that hard work is the best way to achieve success, it’s important to remember that technology can help your business in extremely significant ways.

Do you think your work life is technologically lagging behind your personal life?  Read through the following to see if you are as technically up-to-date as possible.

1.    Go Mobile

You probably depend on your cell phone for practically every aspect of your personal life, right? That’s because mobile phones, particularly smartphones, have endless capabilities and useful applications that can help you feel in control of your life no matter where you are.

If you want that same feeling of control over your work life, consider adding your work email account to your smartphone.  Communication is the backbone of any business, and taking part of your work with you wherever you go makes you easily accessible and ensures that you won’t be behind on any work-related news or updates.

2.    Use Video Technology

Video conferencing is becoming a pretty standard practice in businesses today, so if your workplace hasn’t looked into this technology it may be a smart idea to bring it up with your boss.

Video conferencing and chat systems are helpful to businesses in multiple ways, the most obvious of which is the ability to unite workers from any location on earth.

This kind of conferencing is also an excellent way to cut travel expenses; instead of flying employees across the country, putting them up in hotels and paying for fancy dinners, all for the sake of one meeting, video conferencing can allow these type of meetings to happen cost-free.

3.    Shift from Paper to Paperless

If you work at a business that has rows upon rows of overstuffed file cabinets, it might be time to consider taking your organizational strategies in a different, more modern direction.

Making the shift from a paper to paperless business can be a major change, especially for older businesses that are more set in their ways, but doing so can drastically improve organization and overall efficiency in a workplace.

Using cloud storage or other types of online file storage is the perfect way to get important documents organized in one central location, reducing the time it takes to dig up specific papers or share files.

Plus, keeping documents online keeps them safe and serves as a kind of insurance, so long as you back up your computer system frequently.  Storing files online is also an easy way to make your workplace “greener” and more environmentally friendly.

So, don’t keep technology limited to your home life; it can have amazing benefits for your work life as well and can help move businesses in a more productive, efficient and organized direction.
