Not so perfect...

I just read your weekly email article and got thinking. Obviously the perfect situation would be a mother and a father caring for a child or children, but we don't live in a perfect world and sometimes the mom and dad combo does not work too well either.

Mothers were always considered to be the better equipped caregiver for children, while fathers have simply been seen as the sperm provider and sent on their way.

But so much has changed, I don't see any difference between what a single mom or a single dad have to go through when raising a child. They both have to be providers in terms of the basics of a roof, clothes, food etc.

Both have to be emotionally available to the children when needed, the advice may be different – but is that really that big of a deal? Both have to make time for their child for doctors visits, school activities, time at home etc.

So what's the difference whether a dad is the single parent or the mother? Both can make mistakes, both have to make sacrifices if they choose to be a single parent. We no longer live in a world where the husband goes off to work and earns the money and mom stays home with the kids.

There are situations where this is turned around and mom works while dad does car pool.

I say, if a father loves his child and is willing to take on the responsibility of caring for their son/daughter and giving them the home they deserve – Viva Le Fathers!
