Following the social media backlash after Twitter users complained about numerous spelling, grammatical and factual errors, Blackbird Books, an imprint of Jacana publishers, have decided to recall Bonang Matheba’s From A to B.
According to TimesLive, the imprint has confirmed that a nationwide recall of the book is already under way and that a new edition of the book would be on its way.
In a statement posted on Twitter and on Facebook, the publishers have taken full responsibility for the errors and have also promised readers who are unsatisfied with their purchase a copy of the new edition as soon as it becomes available.

According to Channel24, Exclusive Books has also offered to provide a full refund for dissatisfied readers who wish to return copies of the book to the store.
Blackbird books have previously told The Juice that they wanted Bonang’s book to be a true reflection of her voice – “hence the direction and conversational nature of the read.”

But it seems that the backlash has proved too severe for the publishers to ignore.
There’s been no word on when we can expect the revised editions on the shelves yet, but given the response on social media networks following the announcement, disappointed readers seem to be more keen on returning Bongang’s book rather than giving it a second chance.

Exclusive Books doesn't give a damn! They said you don't even need to have a receipt guys, just bring the book back & they'll hand you cash.

So much talent in mzanzi to help bonang proof read and edit her book?? and she decided to cut costs ?? pic.twitter.com/vshAwGvSdH

The idea that Bonang's book gets a pass on bad grammar because it's celebrity portraiture makes no sense whatsoever.
