Waddle, nitwit, hooter?

Is anyone giggling yet? Well, according to science, you should be.

A peer-reviewed research done by a UK University has revealed the funniest words in the English language.

To come to this conclusion, 821 people were asked to rank a list of 211 words on a scale of 1 (humourless ) to 5 (humourous) and results revealed which words were the most giggle worthy.

The results of this study were released in the journal  Behavior Research Methods -- which was published recently.

These are the list of words that made the top 10

  • Booty
  • Tit
  • Booby
  • Hooter
  • Nitwit
  • Twit
  • Waddle
  • Tinkle
  • Behop
  • Egghead

Fortunately, the study will also save us all from sitting through really bad amateur stand-up shows because it has a guide of words comedians should steer clear of if they want to make their audience laugh.

Rape was also one of the least humorous words with words such as:

Nightmare, death, and torment. What was interesting though was the differences between what men and woman find funny.

The study revealed that men found 'dirty' words such as 'bondage' and 'orgy' way funnier than women.

Women, on the other hand, were amused by words such as 'giggle', 'momma' and 'slicker'.
