Katy opened up about her relationship with funny man Russell who she describes as being a “magical man” when they first met.
We were all very surprised when the pair hit the rocks, and we never really knew why, or how they broke up.
“He’s a very smart man, and I was in love with him when I married him,” says Katy, “Let’s just say I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2001.”
I have heard about cowardly ways to break-up but this? This is just the pits. How does any woman move on from being dumped via text?
Well, Katy, ever the realist, believes that the end of her nuptials reared its head long before she received confirmation from Russell:
“At first when I met him he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they’re like, I can’t handle this equalness.
“He didn’t like the atmosphere of me being the boss on tour. So that was really hurtful, and it was very controlling, which was upsetting.”
Although her marriage ended badly with Russell-the-love-muscle, Katy remains positive about being single and casually dating John Mayer:
“I have to be happy being alone, and I am happy...I believe that I will be loved again, in the right way. I know I’m worth it.”
