The SA Style Awards is celebrating 21 years of honouring those who gracefully walk our red carpets. #Trending’s favourite recipients this year are actress Dineo Moeketsi and rapper Zothile Langa (known as Solo), who were voted the most stylish couple by a panel of judges. While all the other categories were fiercely debated, Dineo and Solo as Most Stylish Couple were obvious winners – nothing to debate.
Looking at their fashion, the two consistently know how to dress for every and any occasion – whether it be the red carpet, the gym or date night.
They’ve spent more than four years together, but have managed to keep their relationship private. While Dineo is a ball of fire, Solo is a reserved and quiet gentleman, but it’s hard not to notice when he’s in a room – his style speaks loudly.
“My definition of style is an ever-evolving identity. Being able to express who you are in the now and being able to change that as you evolve tomorrow,” Solo said.
Dineo, on the other hand, said: “Style to me means you can be an army and a choir at the same time, that you can be a tour de force and la petite mort in one stylish breath. It means twirling and shining whichever way you choose, and feeling good about yourself while doing so.”
Dapper rapper Solo said his earliest memory of a look that moved him would be watching his grandmother. “She had a fur coat with a matching fur hat,” he explained.
Having always been the alternative man of fashion, Solo has created a style that isn’t easy to duplicate and isn’t the latest fashion trend, but it’s distinctly him and impossible not to notice.
Dineo, who you can catch on Mzansi Magic’s The Queen on weekdays, said: “I’ve come to not describe my style because that means there’ll be an expectation, and I believe one must be able to showcase one’s versatility and take one’s breath away. To be confined into a defined style strips style of its very essence, in my view.”
She’s often seen donning garments by designer duo Quiteria & George.
“They are my most favourite designers as I’ve seen first-hand how their vision comes into being and I love their execution,” she said.
Solo is currently preparing to go on tour to promote his album Dreams B Plenty, released earlier this year.
The awards will be presented on November 5 at the Sandton City Diamond Walk and the San Deck at the Sandton Sun in Johannesburg.
