The House of Martell Experience will bring festival goers a special experience and The AIDS Healthcare Foundation will collaborate with AFROPUNK on Activism Row. Just in time for AFROPUNK, Constitution Hill has launched a unique tourism collective: "I am Joburg". On the 8th and 9th of December at Carfax in Newtown, eight bands will compete to be the next two finalists in The Battle Of The Bands powered by EDGE,  that sees the winner performing at AFROPUNK. On the night Sho Madjozi, Rudeboyz and DJ Kenzhero will join the rising stars on stage.

Nandi Madida is thrilled to host AFROPUNK Joburg “I am particularly ecstatic and honored to be hosting Afropunk because it is not only a festival but a movement that I've followed for many years, one that encouraged me to go out there and be unashamedly myself in a world that is constantly trying to make us conform to certain social norms. And now it's happening in the centre  of all things "Afro" — that is insane! Africa is the cradle of so many things that are bold, fierce and alternative., from artists, to the people coming to watch, to the legacy AFROPUNK has created, I honestly feel like I'm home, and I can't wait to interact with my people. It's going to be epic! I am beyond humbled to be apart of the very first AFROPUNK in South Africa as an MC. Let us make history and be a part of an incredible legacy.”

The AFROPUNK Joburg lineup features Solange, Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals, King Tha Vs Blk Jks, Petite Noir, Blitz The Ambassador, Laura Mvula, Black Motion, Theo Parrish, The Brother Moves On, Nakhane, Spoek Mathambo, OKZharp & Manthe Ribane, Nonku Phiri, Gods Sons and Daughters, DJ Lag, DJ Doowap, DJ Kenzhero, Kid Fonque, Urban Village and others.
