This body positive local music video has no secrets, no makeup, no wardrobe

Purity Zinhle Mkhize, vocalist for punk bands Fruits and Veggies and The Pranks, has reinvented herself and is now a solo artist called Pure and she’s just released an awe-inspiring video for her song No Secrets.

The video is a no fuss, no frills ode to natural beauty and body positivity with all of its subjects wearing no make up, no clothes (except for the burnt t-shirt Purity wears in certain shots) and bearing no secrets.

In a voiceover in the beginning of the video, Purity speaks about her new outlook on life after becoming a solo artist and mother: “Now, all at once, I’m starting to make peace with self, and it’s been good,” she says.

“This video embodies everything I believe in and stand for as a woman, as an artist and as an ever-growing entity,” says Purity in a statement. “It’s a celebration of what true beauty is.”

Kyle Lewis, the SAMA-winning music video director, who is up for a Metro FM Award this weekend for his music video for Jump, Anatii’s collaboration with Cassper Nyovest and Nasty C, says “I wanted to create a raw, honest piece that promotes positive body image.

“No make up. No wardrobe. Just a beautiful tapestry of human bodies, of people who share their truths and their vulnerable side, who defy the norms and break the mold. No secrets. No fear.”
