What the phases of the moon mean for your star sign

accreditation

The signs of the zodiac can learn a lot from each other and, to aid in this, 2016 holds a full moon in each sign. Ah wait, except for Capricorn. Sorry, Capricorn, but Gemini has greedily taken up two full moons, but perhaps there is some reasoning behind this madness.

The following may seem a little confusing, but here’s how to look at it. Let’s use Aquarius - full moon in Leo on January 24th as an example: Aquarius in refers to the sign you were born into. Leo refers to  the characteristics of the full moon. January 24th is when the full moon takes place. We then take a look at what Aquarius can learn from Leo characteristics.

Let’s find out:

•    Aquarius - full moon in Leo on January 24th

Although the moon has long begun a new phase, the lesson for Aquarians has only just begun. The Leo moon strongly wills the desire in Aquarians to shine. Just as the majestic Leo naturally commands attention, so too does the timid Aquarian wish to be recognised.

Find power in your mind and capabilities, and speak up because only then will you be heard.

•    Aries - full moon in Libra the on March 23rd

The full ‘worm’ moon cycle in Libra evolves through the matters of the heart as Libra often represents connection. Arians are the pioneers of the zodiac and are often on the move, and as we move through autumn during this time, this full moon represents a time for balance between winter and summer.

All the activity excites the Arian, but it can often lead them away from themselves. This moon brings out the need for you to take time to be with yourself and to reflect on who you are and how you’ve grown. It’s important for Aries to remember that a great deal can also be learnt from being alone.

•    Cancer - full moon in Capricorn on July 19th

This time may seem like a face-off between family and work for Cancerians. Capricorns rule over the world of work, ambition and success, and for the family-orientated Cancerian, the Capricorn full moon brings to light a time for Cancerians to pull in the reigns of pleasure and home comforts and weigh it out with career opportunities.

•    Capricorn – no full moon

Many elements of your life seemed to have subtly faded away and what feels like loss is actually the drawing of a curtain of achievements and missions accomplished.

There is no full moon during your astrological period. This is not a bad thing and it certainly doesn’t mean there aren’t great changes and opportunities of growth in store for you this year. Use the time to finish up any loose ends and make room for greater things. You are the ruler of ambition and success, there’s no slowing down now. So take a deep breath, feel the rush of excitement and accept the greatness that lies ahead of and within you.

•    Gemini – astonishingly, Gemini has TWO full moons at the beginning and end of its astrological period. A full moon on the May 21st and another on June 20th - both in Sagittarius.

This represents an exceptionally powerful and intense time of metamorphosis and awakening for Gemini. Lucky you! But, good luck because change this powerful won’t come easily.

What is the Sagittarian so strongly trying to teach you? Sagittarians are all about seeing the bigger picture. And the Sagittarian full moon brings about a synthesising of thoughts into a bigger picture of awareness. A Gemini is typically concerned with the finer details and logic of things while the Sagittarian is more inclined to engross themselves in the philosophy of it all.

This may feel like a great tug of war between ego and emotion. Your understanding of what it ‘real’ and logical’ may be expanded by the Sagittarian’s ideal and radical perspective. Don’t fight this. There lies great learning ahead because a mind stretched by a new experience cannot go back to its old dimension. This sounds scary, but it is the greatest and most necessary thing in becoming who we truly are.

•    Libra - full moon in Aries on October 16th

Just as the pioneering Arian can learn inner companionship from Libras, so Librans can greatly learn to express their individuality from the ever independent Arian.

The key for Librans is to find that ideal balance between ‘I’ and ‘We’ before they lose themselves in whatever partnerships they may be in. The Arian full moon lights the way for the straightforward approach of an Arian: to be honest, confident and to trek fearlessly into the unknown.

•    Pisces- A full moon in Virgo take place on February 22nd

The sensitivity and spiritually focused Pisces can easily lose themselves in an illusory state and any space they occupy will most likely be a charming, colourful mess of (artistic) confusion. However, they secretly wish to acquire the orderly, efficient, methodical and meticulous traits so clearly associated with those born under the Virgo sign.

In the transformation of the new moon to a Virgoean full moon, this may just be your time be your own fairy godmother.  Take this period to cleanse and regenerate your life and surroundings with consistent practice to fulfill this wish.

•    Sagittarius - full moon in Gemini on December 14th

Much like the Sagittarian, the Gemini full moon turns our focus to the mind and implores us to take the time to look at the finer details in life. Sagittarians often see ‘the bigger picture’ and Gemini can help a Sagittarian see the details that often give us the answer and guidance through much of life’s challenges. Observing the finer points in life may also guide the Sagittarians to the truth that they so often seek.

Take time during this period to reflect on your adventures and everyday encounters. Think about them from various angles and see what conclusions you can draw from your observations.

•    Scorpio - full moon in Taurus on the November 14th

Scorpios are dead serious in their mission to learn from others. They’re not afraid to ask questions about the things they really want to know as their curiosity is immeasurable, maybe even insatiable.

The Taurean full moon brings out the need in the fast moving and future-focused Scorpio to anchor themselves and to be radically present in the now instead of chasing off and questioning the present for future desires. Just be and listen - what you need to know will come to you.

•    Taurus - full moon in Scorpio on April 24rd

Taureans are anchored beings who love the comforts and aesthetics of having nice things. This sometimes happens at the expense of their spiritual progress as Taureans often have a tendency to place too much emphasis on material nature.

The Scorpio full moon is here to balance material and spiritual needs and values. You need to learn how to connect to this world, without becoming a complete part of it. You have a great sense of determination and this can be used to remain dedicated to your spiritual self.

•    Virgo – full moon in Pisces on September 16th
