Best Breakup Apps

Have you recently undergone a heart-wrenching break-up? Well put down that tub of ice-cream, pack up those tissues and get onto the internet.

DearOldLove is a tumblr where people can go and post short, anonymous notes to their ex-loves, “requited or unrequited.” If you're bitter, says the site description, here is the place to express it.

Here are some of the funniest posts we read on there:

“I miss you so much, I miss your laugh, your voice, your smile, your touch - it almost erases everything else, like that you are a total psycho.”

“Not only did you lead me on and break my heart but did you really have to change your HBO Go password too?”

Neverlikeditanyway
is a kind of classifieds for the bitter and broken-hearted. The website gives you the option to buy it, sell it or tell it and each item for sale comes with a story explaining the break-up.

We love their words of advice on the homepage:

"Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick and pull yourself together" Elizabeth Taylor, you goddess you! She wed, divorced and sold it all!

Futureme.org is a website that lets you write a letter to your future-self warning you not to make the same mistake again and then you can set a date in the future when you want to receive it.

So, if you’ve just gone through a particularly nasty break-up with a particularly horrible guy who you think you might just fall for again, you may want to write yourself some cautionary words of advice.

Breakuptext is an app that takes all the awkwardness out of a break up, saving you from those awful face-to-face conversations.

The app simplifies a break-up into three simple questions: guy or girl, serious or casual, and whether you lost interest, found someone else, or were eaten by a bear.

The app then generates your answers into an epic 162-word emotional break-up message.

“As much as we did it as a joke, it has sort of captured a moment in time when tech is becoming more pervasive in our lives and relationships,” Levine explains. “Somebody wrote a post
saying, ‘This app isn’t very good, my breakup texts are always a lot better.' Which I found sort of funny.”

Killswitch is an app for those really nasty break-ups. If you can’t bear to be reminded that your ex even breathes the same air that you do, then this is the app for you.
It filters your facebook, deleting all traces of your ex off of your profile so you can stalk in peace without those pesky reminders of the love you once had.

The last and most bizarre reaction to break-up’s is a Facebook page called the Break up Notifier. The page targets itself at singles that are in love with someone who is already taken.
Promising to notify them the instant the couple in question break up. Sounds rather psychotic if you ask me.
