Uncapped Internet opens up a world of multimedia possibilities for your PC and smartphone, including streaming and downloading, enabling you to watch the latest movies or listen to your favourite music.

If you’re on a capped Internet account, watching videos online and downloading music could well result in reaching your cap before the end of the month and you having to top up your Internet account.

Uncapped Internet also opens up the world of video streaming from sites like YouTube and Vimeo. More than 48 hours of video is uploaded onto YouTube every minute of every day. The site has over three billion hits a day and over a 100 million mobile hits a day.
“Watching YouTube on your smartphone is really simple. Connect your smartphone to your secure Wi-Fi ADSL router and you can stream YouTube videos on your phone from anywhere in the house. And because your internet is uncapped you don’t have to worry about your data usage,” she says.
Music goes digital
Holgate says, on the music front, there are options to purchase singles and albums, or stream them to your PC, tablet or smartphone. In a capped internet scenario digital music is more expensive because you have to factor in the cost of the album or song as well as the cost of the bandwidth to download it.
“With Uncapped Internet, you can buy music from several local online stores including OMusic, Nokia Music and Look and Listen and download the album or tracks you have purchased without having to worry about the bandwidth costs. You can then listen to the music on your PC, smartphone or MP3 player,” she says.
Music streaming sites are becoming increasingly popular as well. Many of these sites have iPhone and/or Android apps available which allow you to stream music to your smartphone.
A site like Jango will let you stream specific albums to your PC or Phone or tune into preselected genres where various artists are included.
