When I worked at Cosmo, I had to style a page called Fashion Workshop. An editorial segment that aimed to show readers how to style one item four different ways.
It was my favourite page to style because of how it inspired readers to wear items in their wardrobes more than one way. Most importantly, it showed readers how to think outside of the box. It challenged them to layer things like dresses, wear skirts as tops, jackets as dresses and really make their wardrobe go far.
When you root your purchasing decisions in quality and longevity, as oppose to seasonal trends, you inevitably end up spending more on individual pieces. Nowadays, what I would have spent on three fast fashion items is what I spend on one really great classic clothing item.

The key word here is “classic” and I don’t mean “classic” in the frumpy sense, but more in that season in and season out, this particular garment is a wardrobe staple.

The Parka
In all its forms, the parka is a classic outerwear piece. It transcends seasons and if styled correctly different occasions, too. The Clara Parka from Witchery Balance, Witchery’s leisure wear collection, is made of 100% Polyester and comes in this beautiful powdery blue. It can be worn open or closed. Layered over other garments or alone as a dress. You can loosen the drawstrings or cinch it at the waist. And the colour, fabric and classic length means that if pushed, it could be worn as part of a smart casual look.
