How to wear velvet like a millennial

accreditation

There’s no denying that the '70s have made a major comeback along with the rise of one of my favourite materials: velvet. This luxurious material is no longer reserved for old people's living rooms, but has recently graced the catwalks of Louis Vuitton, Alberta Ferretti and Givenchy – everything from three piece suits to simple slip dresses.

It’s a bold trend to pull off and not everyone will feel comfortable wearing a head-to-toe velvet look. I opted for a dark green shade that was closer to black to keep my look chic and effortless rather than a brighter hue that screamed “LOOK AT ME NOW!”

For those of you that are tempted to try the trend, but you are not too sure if velvet’s your thing, stick to the one piece rule. So either go for a pair of velvet trousers or a velvet top. Never both. And if that’s still too much for you, you could simply add a black velvet choker to your outfit.
