How to steal and adapt international street style trends

accreditation

Stealing the style of fashion peeps attending New York, Paris and Milan Fashion Week can be quite daunting considering the price tags of the items they wear.

Lucky for us, local designers are fricken amazing at what they do. So let's copy our favourite street style stars, doing it with a lekker local twist:

1. The dreamy, I-am-floating-on-candyfloss-clouds, look

Because public transport can be such a bitch.

This whimsical, almost ethereal look can be achieved when shopping the designs of local talent Lara Klawikowski. We absolutely love her aesthetic, as it is abstract, both structured and free-flowing and soft in its colour palette.

Or get yourself one of these pretty summer dresses by Poetry. They just recently launched and are perfect for pulling off the head-in-the-clouds vibe:

2. Jewellery that speaks volumes

Because small talk sucks.

Perfect to pair with understated chic summer looks, get yourself some of jewelllery designer Pichulik's brand spanking new resort Spring/Summer 2017 collection pieces (available from next week Friday). We are totes smitten!

3. The luxe bag

Because you need a bag to carry around your empty wallet.

Not quite able to afford that $20 000 leather or fluff-ball designer bag?

Treat 'yo self to a leather bag by local talent Thalia Strates. These babies will last you a lifetime.

4. Bold prints

Because sometime monotony can be so monotonous.

Loving paisley and kaleidoscope prints? Check out local designer Michelle Ludek's summer collection (now available at the Watershed, Waterfront) for some true gems. Plus Marize Malan's latest Morphe collection which featured exquisite prints and metallic elements:

5. Pink

Because pretending you're a flamingo is rad.

Everyone's loving the dusty pink palette lately. Check out some of the exquisite pieces by Jozi designer Orapeleng Modutle Style Avenue:
