She follows in the footsteps of the likes of Boity Thulo, Lalla Hirayama, Nandi Mngoma, DJ Zinhle, Minnie Dlamini and Bonang Matheba.
The new range will be three capsule collections, which the brand describes as “the festival shop, the holiday shop and the party shop”.
They will feature day and night looks and some items that can be played around with in formal looks, as well as the all-important pool and beachwear items.
The festival shop is up first and it’s all about prints (from clothes and shoes to accessories) – soft maxi dresses in fresh summer colours, and form-fitting dresses with interesting necklines and sleeves. The gladiator sandal is a must-have, along with mainly gold and chunky accessories.
You can also expect to see a lot of the big 70s trend, which seems to be everywhere this summer, with off-the-shoulder tops and tassels.
The beautiful Thabethe says of the collaboration: “LEGiT is a powerful brand in South Africa, its fashion choices speak to the confident, assertive and bold African woman, and that strongly resonated with me.” As always, the range is not necessarily items you will be wearing in a decade, but stuff that is cool, trendy and pretty for the summer, which you can buy without feeling guilty about spending too much.
The Ayanda Thabethe LEGiT Summer collection goes on sale tomorrow (October 17) at selected stores. Visit Legit for more info
