South African TV and radio personality Thando Thabethe has added fashion designer to her already impressive repertoire.
She officially launched her highly-anticipated underwear line – Thabooty’s Underwear and Shapewear – on Thursday.
Thabooty’s forms part of her #IAMWOMAN range which aims to celebrate iconic women as well as the visual representation of women using photography.
Thando also hopes to impart her own philosophies around women practicing self-love, reclaiming their bodies and being comfortable in their skin while clearing up the misconception that women dress for men.
The DJ explains how the idea of starting her underwear and shapewear range came about.
“The range was inspired by my struggles to find off-the-rack shapewear that was both appealing to the eye as well as functional,” said Thando.
“I wanted to create something women wouldn’t be ashamed to wear, and something that would meet my functional needs.
"Whether it was to even out, control or contour, I needed something that wouldn’t roll down my body or make me feel like I was wearing a blanket underneath my clothes,” she added.
