I have a confession to make. I spend a lot of money on accessories. Particularly earrings. I have so, so many. It's almost disturbing. Almost.
Yet my collection will never be complete. Whenever enough time passes between earring purchases - and by "enough" I really mean, days - my brain starts to wonder. Should I? I ask myself.
Some people treat themselves with a nice dinner out, bubbly or maybe a nice new dress. I. Buy. Earrings. Don't ask me why, but "it's my thing, I love it, just let it go" as SATC's Miranda Hobbs used to say about her obsession with reading Tattle Tale (a fictional gossip rag).
Full disclosure. Earrings are not ear-friends. They can hurt, stretch, strain and irritate. But you can turn them into ear-buddies under the right tutelage.
- Make sure you are not allergic to your earrings, nickel in particular. A lot of jewellery contain nickel which, if you're allergic to, can cause all sorts of reactions.
- Buy something you know will go with lots of different items in your wardrobe
- Make sure your earlobe can handle the weight of the earring. Some of us have more fragile lobes than others, and heavy lobes can end up stretching out this delicate skin.
Now, to the good stuff. Ohhh I get so excited! Now tie up those tresses and get down to business...
