5 super short-lived fashion trends

Fashion is a beautiful thing and we all love to express ourselves with what we wear. But as time passes, so do fashion trends. Fleetingness is after all the prerequisite for a trend. Some just last a bit longer than others. And some, like jelly shoes, come back to haunt us.

Here are some of these short-lived fashion trends:

1. Peplum dresses/tops

For a moment peplums were eye-catching and people loved them for the exaggerated shape it added to your outfit. It also hid that winter roll. But who needs a peplum when you have peasant tops and bell sleeves?

2. Metallic waist belts

These were cute until the edges of the belt cut into your hipbones and once it bends, you know it’s completely ruined.

3. Knee-high sandals/sneakers

Knee-high sandals and boots are fashionable, but NO to knee-high sneakers? They don't make you look edgy, they aren't attractive and modern-day gladiators would totes not be caught dead in them.

4. Bandanas as tops

I’m guilty of this fashion fail you guys, it’s one of those “what was I thinking?” moments. As a scarf, yes, but not as a top. Use a crop top for that.

5. Sneaker wedges

Is it a sneaker, is it a wedge? Great for comfort and adding a bit of height, yet this sporty trend lasted only for a mere moment.
