Did Carolina Herrera rip off this Spanish brand's signature handbag handle?

accreditation

Controversy has surrounded brands like Gavin RajahZara and high end names like YSL in the past for allegedly copying lesser known designers' unique works of fashion.

Now Fashionista.com reports that the most recent plagiarism allegations come from Colombian design duo Melissa Losada Bofill and Marcela Vélez. They say Carolina Herrera has stolen their signature needle-like handbag handle which is an integral part of luxe Spanish brand M2Malletier's brand identity.

This year Carolina Herrera launched the Insignia bag worldwide to celebrate 35 years of the House of Herrera. But its handle bares a striking resemblance to the signature M2Malletier handle clutched by celebs like Gabrielle Union and Millie Bobby Brown on the red carpet in recent years.

The National says that, "Though colours and shapes may vary, this handle style is present in all of the brand’s handbag designs."

Rip off or inspired by? You decide.
