Fashion's ugliest item is being reintroduced - and we are in a blind panic

accreditation

The trusted shoe, worn by chefs, medical practitioners and cult members the world over, is back. Yes people, I'm talking about Crocs.

Crocs were invented circa 2002. So technically, it is now in its awkward teenager phase, which, to be honest, is much better than its toddler phase. I personally have placed a mental block on its earliest designs, but Crocs have, over time, reimagined its footwear into (slightly less hideous) designs I almost, just almost, deemed worthy of being worn by my parents.

ManRepeller recently suggested that white Crocs might, in fact, *audible swallow*, be ‘the new white sneaker’.

I know, it’s sick. SICK I tell you!

But wait. It's spreading! For some bizarre reason Christopher Kane (a brilliant fashion designer in my opinion) footed his runway models in Crocs at his most recent London Fashion Week showing. A move so bold and brave it saw Kanye sit up and take note.

YES!

But not only were they Crocs... They were bejewelled Crocs - somewhat reminiscent of a charm bracelet. The only “good” thing, and this I say with a slight facial twitch, is that the Crocs were at least not coloured in its traditional neon hue. Rather, it was produced in darker shades and marble-like prints.

That smug crocodile has reigned for far too long, and despite its apparent health benefits, I think the shoe's existence is truly a slap in the face to anyone who has ever made or worn a leather shoe.

But that's just me.

More ugly trends soon to make your way include: spiked platforms (yuk!), white lipstick (um, have you been eating chalk again?!) and worst of all, the wet look. But not just wet, hair drenched. Now seriously, that's just not good for your health. Unlike Crocs, apparently.
