Here are the signs your bra is due for a replacement:

When you’ve lost weight

Anytime when you’ve experienced a drastic change in your weight you’ll need to change your bra because with weightloss your bra size will also change. Chances are, your bras will be more loose fitting, thus offering very little support.

The straps are now loose

You bra could have cost you an arm and leg when you bought it but that doesn’t mean it’ll last forever. Once the straps start falling of your shoulders no matter how much you tighten them, know that it’s time to let it go.

Uncomfortable underwire

Underwires are there to provide you with the support your breasts needs. If yours has lost the ability to do so then it’s the same as not wearing a bra at all. In addition, Associate clinical professor of Dermatology at Yale School of Medicine Prof. Mona Gohara says that bras aren’t supposed to give you any discomfort or any form of irritation so when the underwire starts feeling like it’s cutting through your skin get rid of it.

It’s lost it’s shape

Sweat, water and simply wearing your underwear in general will eventually make it lose its shape. The padding on the bra will shift and that only means one thing, it won’t fit you the way it used to. Your cups should align with your breasts for it to fit you properly and give you the support you need.

Suggested time frame

Prof. Gohara suggests on her blog that for your overall skin health you need to change your underwear twice a year. Countless washes will stretch it and it’s only right that after six months you make room for a new one.
