The fashion world wants you to show your body - but only certain parts of it

accreditation

No matter the makeup of our individual and diverse body parts, our limbs - be they natural or prosthetic - are the trusty structure upon which fashion items rest.

Right now the world of fashion seems to be encouraging us to accentuate certain parts more than others. The boobs, for example, seem to be taking a breather as the ear and the wrist are open for decorative business.

Now, will you go all out and APPLY ALL trends to body in a move that sees Iris Apfel gasp at the sigh of your 'excess'. Or merely incorporate one trend into your spring and summer everyday lookbook?

The choice is yours...

Earlobes

After seeing models walk the ramp at Proenza Schouler's New York Fashion Week show, sporting what can only be described a baby bonsai trees dangling from their lobes, it was set in stone. Earlobes are spring and summer's go-to body part (facial part?) for adornments.

Wear them big, wear them bold; whatever you do, wear them!

Shoulders

The off-the-shoulder top/dress is any shoulder blade-o-phile's dream - it's also perfect for tanning away those bikini strap lines.

But if you're irritated by the darn top that JUST.WON'T.STAY.UP, rather cover your decolletage and sex it up with with some side-shoulder action. Rawrrrrr...

Ankles

Yes, it is the season of the sandal, which means we'll be seeing a lot of strangers' winter toes, which, the thought of, to tell you the the truth, chills me to the bone. But, on the upside of summer weather is the showing of the ankle. Which has, of late, become the ultimate in seductive footsy play. Hoorah for the mule, which has been re-popularised - and seems to go with basically anything. Even weak ankles! Who knew?

Or show off some hot piece of ankle in an ankle exposing slider. The fluffier the better.

Wrists

The dusty pink "goldfish dress" that made the entire Prabal Gurung audience slobber with drool, has romanticised the wrist in a way that only someone as deranged as Romeo or Juliette could understand. Yet sleeves that hit just above the wrist will most likely help cut down on our body moisturiser bill.
