Ubooker - the app changing the way models book jobs

There's an app for literally everything and we can't deny the fact that they make life a little more convenient.

And this is why Ubooker co-founders and former models Claudia Wagner and Diana Gaertner, who are familiar with the daily struggles of the modelling industry, have taken advantage of the escalating need to make certain job opportunities more accessible. In this case, modelling.

Previously, models would have to go through the grueling system of go-sees, castings, submitting their portfolios and waiting by the phone for that call which will confirm whether they got the job or not. But Ubooker is slowly doing away with all that stress. Models use the Ubooker app to book modelling gigs in pretty much the same way you request an Uber ride.

Wagner and Gaertner says that agencies hold way too much power as they have exorbitant commission rates, yet the return for the models, in terms of jobs booked, often don't add up.

Ubooker only takes ten percent commission from each job booked from both the model and the client respectively. For clients the app eliminates a lot of admin and costs as there is no agency involved.

So the perks here are not only that fresh-faced models can control their careers at the touch of a screen, but it cuts out the middle man. This leaves the model with more control as she/he only has contractual obligations to the client who booked them.

And for a company that only just launched earlier this year, they're certainly going out of their way to transform the modelling industry as we know it. One of the main attractions of using this app is that models are paid within 96 hours of completing a job, unlike the usual waiting period of a couple of months.

This gives the models way more security as they know they'll receive payment within a few days.

The app is not available in South Africa just yet, as it has only launched in Europe and the United States, but until then we will patiently wait for a little disruption on our shores too.
