Big '60s hair, bejewelled headbands, rimless ski goggles worn as sunglasses, black-tipped rhinestone boots and winter shorts stood out as some of the important new trends proposed by Chanel's epic space mission-inspired Fall/Winter 2017/2018 collection recently shown at Paris Fashion Week.
And if you, like me, are keen to give off the impression this winter that you are in fact a young '60s gal off to the Alps (or Mars?!) for some gluhwein and an escape from reality (or gravity!), then here are some key takeaways from Karl Lagerfeld's collection:
Metallic or sequinned boots
Disco-balled feet are the best kind of footplay.
We LOVE these silver and pink sequin boots by Zara.
Larger than life sunglasses
Great for checking your reflection on the slopes or for starting a fire in a post-apocalyptic world, bigger eyewear will be seen as better this winter.
We want these rimless Emporio Armani sunnies, R 2 090:

Headbands
The beanie has been given a makeover as woolly bejewelled headbands being introduced as the new winter sweatband.
Shorts
Space blankies/capes resembling lilos might not become a thing anytime soon. Yet, look out for shorts in winter - only to be worn with glittery stockings that is.
Space-y shirts
Wear the moon, the stars and the sun on your chest.
Houndstooth
Always a classic, paired with metallic accessories and boots, this '60s staple will be reborn.
Wear this Spree.co.za number with metallic ankle boots and a light-weight bomber:
Handbag muffler
This might not be in stores soon, but one can dream of one day being able to give someone the finger without them knowing.
Makeup
Nothing says snowbunny-off-to-space quite like exaggerated Edie Sedgwick-esque eyeliner, big lashes and slight rosy lips.

Next time, take us with you Chanel!
