#WednesdayWishlist - keep it casual, as if you've put in no effort at all

accreditation

Last night I engaged in a brief chat via Instagram live stories with Jozi 'It' girls Lulama Wolf and Cassandra Twala.

I asked: What will be the main street style trends at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town this coming week?

Lulama said casual chic. To her, Cape Town people are chilled and casual compared to the super glam Jo'burg crowd.

Cassandra added that it will be athleisuire, but 'worn well', i.e. Nikes, but dressed up.

But believe it or not, this 'chilled' look can be tricky.

Here are a few ways to look as if you've made no effort:

Sweats, heels and a banker striped shirt go together like yogurt and pita bread (yes, oh yes).

Go Mediterranean with bold, culotted pants in earth tones or tops with some La Dolce Vita flair and pair it with adidas, Nike, Puma or Old Skool Vans.

Add a red lip and disheveled hair for added appeal.

Or mix it with platform espadrilles...

These ones are MRP, but you can also shop them from Superga.

To make it all really easy, go for high-waisted anything (skirt, jeans, pants) and add some nice lurex socks and sneaks...

And play with texture, like juxtaposing satin with suede or velvet.

Can my hair please look like this everyday though? Fresh colour & braids by the amazing @salomedewet ????

So remember it's all about, as Cassandra says being 'worn well'. So don't wear a sweatpant like you'd wear it to the couch, wear a damn sweatpant like it's a debutante out on the town for the very first time. Dressed up and ready to face the world.
