6 Easy Tips for Healthy Hair

1. Try not to wash your hair too often

This strips your hair from its natural oils. If your hair feels oily after day two, rather tie it up than washing it again.

2. Use a good conditioner

If you have colour done regularly, you need to always use a good conditioner. There are two important reasons for this:
•    The conditioner seals the cuticle preventing your colour from washing out;
•    Conditioners that contain protein will rebuild the hair where the colour has damaged it.

3. Use salon products

Using salon products really does make a difference using professional shampoo and conditioner instead of store-bought products.

Professional hair products are especially important for repair – the molecules are more refined and therefore it works deeper in the cortex of the hair than your ordinary shampoo and conditioner.

4. Go for regular haircuts

If you have a lot done to your hair on a regular basis (e.g. flat ironing and blow drying on a daily basis and colouring often) then you need to get your hair cut once every six weeks.

If your hair is low maintenance and you don’t do too much to your hair, you can get it cut once every three months

5. Protect your hair

It is of extreme importance to always apply a heat protector before any type of heat styling, whether it is flat ironing, blow drying or curling. The heat protector will lock in the moisture, preventing split ends and thermal damage.

6. Protect your hair from the sun

Your hair is the same as your skin and just like you use sun protection for your skin, you need to use sun protection for your hair. A very good sun protector is Redken Sun Extend, but if your budget is a bit tight after buying your professional shampoo and conditioner, you can also use the old and trusted aqueous cream. (Just make sure that you use the pure aqueous cream.)
