Botox? – No need for that

*In response to Lili's latest newsletter, a reader had this to say:

I will be 50 in November – am married and have one 22 year old daughter.

I am a firm believer that woman should look after themselves and make the best with what they have got  to make themselves happy  first and  foremost .

If that means  a regular beauty regime , wearing  make-up, doing hair, wearing sexy/beautiful clothing  staying in shape ( read - not being anorexic or shapeless)  why not? I Being  very overweight has distinct health disadvantages not to mention that it can be difficult to find clothing and shoes that really look good;

Cosmetic Surgery – I think it has a place for people who really have issues that bother them e.g. disfigurement or features that they are really uncomfortable with; I would probably consider straightening my nose a little if I had the money to do (but it is not a burning issue) but really for the rest of the “issues” wrinkles etc., they are going to take their natural course any way.

Most of the people who are big into cosmetic surgery tend to end up looking like a freak show e.g.  Mickey Rourke, Priscilla Presley , when to begin with they were beautiful people naturally and probably would have aged gracefully and beautifully had they just made the best of what they had.

I am also a firm believer that beauty should also come from the inside and that woman should not be made to feel that they need to “measure up” to the magazine models and Hollywood movie stars we see every day; Women should not be made to feel that they are making their significant other unhappy because they don’t “measure up” or because they have a couple of love handles or some wrinkles that weren’t there before etc. etc..

Not to mention that all women should be loved for who they are and not what they look like – so all the shallow Hals out there put that in your pipe and smoke it! Get a life and get over yourselves

Oh and just getting back on to topic - Your darling niece obviously has an eye for detail – this is a good thing! It should hold her in good stead if she keeps that characteristic.

No doubt she loves you wrinkles and all and she would be enthralled if you told her the stories attached to each of those four wrinkles she drew.

Viva to wrinkles, love handles and strong independent women who know who they are and what their worth is.
