Short hair
This winter is not only for the boys and it's super-sexy. Hair is not cut in hard, masculine lines but is rather an in-your-face length with pieces falling sexily over the eyes. Accentuate texture with deeper toned lowlights as opposed to highlights. Lowlights in winter add depth to hairstyles and in the softer winter light look warm and more natural.
Since they also change the texture of your hair, fine hair should become more manageable. For night-time glamour, add a pretty hair clip and play with messy and smooth textures. Texturising products are a must to achieve this look, as choppy layered cuts will look flat and uninteresting without them. Less is best use styling products sparingly. Instead of making hair more manageable, they can make hair flat and dull if too much is applied. Follow the instructions and always spread across both your hands before applying.

Long and lovely
Long hair
is still hot news, but instead of
straight sheets, enjoy the natural texture. Waves
and curls are making a big comeback. To get
more movement out of long hair, consider a few
layers. They don't have to be distressingly short
but can loosen up your hair and make it more
interesting. To boost movement and texture,
invest in some good products. Texture does not
have to equal frizz, and it's incredible how far a
little product can go to make hair look good.
Choose your hair products carefully, particularly
if you have long hair. Hairsprays and mousse are
usually alcohol-based, which can be drying.
Balms, waxes and pomades aren't, so rather use
these if your hair is already dry or frizzy.

Textured and tousled
Medium-length hair
needs a lot of maintenance,
and an excellent cut makes the difference. Forget
about boring one-length bobs; hair is soft, feminine
and interesting. Layered cuts now are far chunkier
than before. The layers are bold, giving hair more
movement and making styling possibilities endless.
As with short hair, add interest with lowlights and
play with colour. Hair colouring used to equal
damage, but the pigments and chemicals are
gentler now, and this treatment can actually improve
the condition of your hair if correctly applied. The
fashion colour to go for this winter is rich chocolate
brown. Blondes and highlights may look good in
summer, but chocolate brown and auburn in winter
look rich against a fairer complexion.
